Experian decided to mix my credit report with someone elses. Her score was in the negative negatives. How did i find this out? Standing in the check out isle of Costco with $325 dollars in groceries and getting my American Express card denied. So I call the number and they tell me they cancelled it. I ask why, they say something about having too much outstanding credit to pay my bills. I ask them if i ever missed a payment or had a late payment with them. They say “no”. Matter of fact, it is payed in full every month. We just refinanced at a lower interest rate a few weeks ago and had no problems. I had to drive home, get my check book, drive back to get my groceries.

The husband goes online to get a report sent and they say i already got my free report this year. No, i didn’t. Liars, pants are on fire. Then we start to worry. It is Sunday and we cannot get a human on the phone so he runs the report himself and prints it. Their stooopid computer crossed all my info with her info. She has lived at 82 different addresses, lived in a city i previously lived in and used a name similar to mine, but her birthday is 4 years later. Last year some collection agency tried to get money from me because of her. We told them the SS number is different (i refused to give them mine but they gave me her last 4 digits and it is not even close), her midddle initial was different along with the birth date not even close to mine. My husband wrote them a funny letter explaining I am not her:
I am in receipt of your collection letter dated June 13, 2008. The only correct information in this letter is the name and address. All the other information is completely incorrect.
I have never had an account with Household/UICI/AFCA or MRC Receivables Corp. I not only dispute all the information in this notice, I have determined that your organization owes me $3,354.80 for obtaining my credit report without authorization, and placing an inquiry on my Trans Union credit report.
On June 12, 2008 your subscriber code, YPE6175913 Leading Edge, appears in my credit bureau without authorization.
Please remit the amount indicated within 30 days of receiving this notice.
We never heard from them again!
My husband worked collections/credit so he knows what to do and how to fight them. He was a bit disappointed Monday when he called Experian and they were all nice and knew immediately what had happened. He kinda felt like yelling!! lol.He was on the phone for two hours. At first the lady says, “what do you want to dispute on the report. He says…”i don’t know where to start…” It was practically the entire thing! They had to remove over 250 items from it. It was easier to tell them what to leave there than what to remove. This lady had had tax liens and all sorts of collectors after her. It is rediculous. She owes the government $30,000!
So, apparently all these collectors have to do is put in a name and not even have an exact SS # to get a report, then they have my address and all sorts of info on me. The husband asks them how they will prevent this from happening again. They put a flag on my credit report so that NO ONE can get any info unless the SS # is exact, not even one number can be off. they have to have my exact spelling and middle initial and last two addresses, exact birthdate…to get any info. WELL, duh, shouldn’t it be that way to start with?

Meanwhile i had to redirect my bills that automatically get paid by American Express to another card. Dish Network was nice and waived the $5.00 fee because the payment was denied them already. Hopefully we fixed it before any nasty collection people saw it and start mailing me her collection notices.
It is sad that my personal info was not even safe with Experian. Did you know that collectors and creditors can get info even if they type in the wrong SS #? Apparently the computer got confused and just messes everything up til someone who notices it calls in to get it fixed.
